The North Dakota Southeast Regional DUI Task Force will step up operations on St. Patrick’s Day for areas around Fargo and other cities in an effort to curb driving under the influence. Local sheriff’s offices, police departments and the North Dakota Highway Patrol will all be involved.
The state has between 5,000 and 6,000 arrests each year for DUI and 53% of all traffic fatalities in 2010 were alcohol related. The average BAC level for those arrested is actually .17 which is almost twice the legal limit. It would seem that with these kinds of statistics the state and local authorities want to try to make this a safe St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
Any person caught in this effort would be best served by contacting a North Dakota DUI lawyer for representation. Those statistics have the jurisdictions very aggressive in their pursuit and arrest of DUI offenders and you will need all the help you can get when facing DUI charges.
A North Dakota DUI lawyer can analyze arrest records and find inconsistencies that may make the case against you appear weak. A poorly maintained breathalyzer or mistake in procedure could result in your DUI charges being reduced. If your North Dakota DUI attorney can identify even a few errors in the case against you it could result in your DUI charges being dismissed.
