After you are convicted of a drunk driving or DUI related offense
part of the requirements (or punishments) levied on you is to complete a
state approved DUI program. A DUI program is basically an
alcohol education class that teaches you about the effects of alcohol on
the human body.
The DUI program also shows you the effects of drunk driving by
exposing you to graphic pictures of accident scenes, pleas from family
members of people that have been killed by drunk drivers, and awareness
of the future legal ramifications should you be arrested of a DUI
offense again in the future.
The length of the DUI program differs depending on the state and the
severity of your offense. The court will order an alcohol
assessment and then determine how long of a DUI program you must
complete based on that assessment.
