I picked up a dui in 1988 and all court and fines are paid. The Dmv wants me to go too one of the schools for drunk driving. I started school and went for 5 months but @ that time money was tight. I have been in alcohol programs such as The Salvation Army Rehabilitation, the Veteran Affairs drug & alcohol program and I still go to AA meetings but they want me to start the dui school over. This puts me under the new law (18 months of school) when my case started in 1988 when the requirement was 12 months. I just picked up driving on a suspended license for driving a car across the street to be worked on. I do not drive, but if I run into a deal I will buy a car fix it and resale. Every time I buy a car someone picks it up for me. The car was parked at a parting meter outside of West Los Angeles Medical Center where I was staying which is federal property. The officer (a UCLA Officer)not a Los Angeles officer was sitting a the light as I pulled from the curb. He was turning right heading back to UCLA and I was going forward. When the light changed I went on to federal property and he pulled behind me and the reason was I didn't have plates on my car. That was the only reason. We are at lease 3 miles from UCLA, I don't even go to UCLA. Do I have any recourse with this?
