I got convicted of a dui last month and i am now scared to death that this will affect me as i try to pursue a teacher profession. I had never been in trouble with the law, no previous records, just this DUI. Does anyone have any experiences or know of any to share?

Hi, Sal!
I was told by a bartender that I know (she also teaches) that a DUI would lose her her job. Conversely, I read of a case where a teacher was fired after his second DUI.

I suppose that it depends on the rules of your district. But if I were you, I would avoid telling your employer for as long as possible. I didn't do that, and I rue it to this day.

They aren't checking up on you, and won't know unless you tell them. Usually.

Good luck!
