South Carolina DUI Class Requirements for DUI Offenders
In South Carolina, DUI offenders are required to complete a program called the Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP). This program is necessary for those convicted of DUI to be eligible for relicensing by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. ADSAP is designed to reduce the number of crashes involving alcohol or other drugs by providing offenders with assessment, education, intervention, and treatment services to prevent future offenses (South Carolina DAODAS).
The typical program includes a 20-hour DUI School, often referred to as the Risk Reduction Program. This program uses a curriculum that focuses on assessing high-risk behaviors and promoting healthier, low-risk alternatives. The course typically spans a weekend or several evenings and must be completed in person. It’s essential for participants to register for a Needs Assessment before attending the DUI School (AACS Counseling).
For further details, you can check the following resources: DUI Law Center and AACS Counseling.
