If your Texas driver's license has been suspended or revoked for any reason, you will be required to purchase SR22 insurance in order to get it reinstated.
When you purchase SR22 insurance, your insurance company will file a "Form SR22 Insurance Certificate" with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
This form must be kept on file for two years from the date of your conviction. If you fail to maintain your SR22 policy, the policy requires your insurance company to notify the DPS. Enforcement action may be taken.
If you do not own a vehicle, you can purchase non-owner SR22 insurance and file a "non-owner Form SR22."
If your driver's license suspension is due to a DWI with a BAC of higher than 0.15 or due to a subsequent DWI, you will be ordered to install an ignition interlock device in your vehicle for 1 year following your suspension. In order to fulfill this requirement, you must own or have regular access to a vehicle, which means that as long as you are under an ignition interlock requirement, you will not qualify for non-owner SR22 insurance.
Your non-owner SR22 insurance must be provided by a company that is authorized to write liability insurance for the State of Texas.
SR22 insurance, even non-owner SR22 insurance can be expensive, but we have worked to offer the most competitive rates in the State. To get a personalized quote, just click on the button below:
