Rhode Island DUI Class Requirements for DUI Offenders
In Rhode Island, DUI offenders required to undergo Alcohol Education must register for the program at the Driver Retraining Office, located inside the Adjudication Office of the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles in Cranston. The program costs $350 and is held at the Community College of Rhode Island. Classes are available on weekdays in the evening and on Saturday mornings. An alcohol assessment is required at the first class, and further treatment may be mandated based on the assessment’s findings.
Additionally, those mandated to complete an Alcohol Treatment/Substance Abuse program will have their treatment requirements determined by their provider, based on guidelines from the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, and Hospitals. The program involves multiple sessions, including individual sessions and regular drug testing. The specifics of the treatment depend on whether it is the first offense or a subsequent one, with more stringent requirements for repeated offenses.
