Tennessee DUI Class Requirement for DUI Offenders
In Tennessee, DUI offenders are required to complete an educational program called “Prime for Life” as part of the penalties and rehabilitation process. This program is designed to reduce the risk of future substance abuse and impaired driving. It covers several topics such as risk reduction, self-assessment, and planning for future low-risk choices. The course typically includes 12 hours of instruction and must be completed at an approved DUI school. Both in-person and online class options are available across the state.
The Prime for Life curriculum is focused on helping participants recognize the risks associated with substance use and making informed, low-risk choices. It’s an evidence-based program used not only in Tennessee but in many other states and even by the U.S. Department of Defense. The structured course is usually divided into sessions that cover topics from understanding personal risks and consequences to developing personal plans for avoiding future issues related to alcohol and drugs.
