Alabama SR22 Insurance Quotes & Information

DUI laws and penalties, fines, license suspension, sr22 filing

If your Alabama State Driver's License has been suspended or revoked because of a DUI, you will need to buy SR22 insurance.

If you have any vehicles registered in your name, the DUI will cause these registrations to be suspended. In order to avoid this suspension or to reverse it, you will need to provide proof of financial responsibility, i.e., SR22 insurance.

SR22 insurance is also a reinstatement requirement, so when it comes time for you to get your driver's license back, you will need to purchase SR22 insurance then, if you do not have it already.

SR22 insurance is simply an insurance policy that creates an agreement between the insurance company and the Alabama DPS: the insurance company agrees to insure you and to notify the DPS if they stop insuring you. (If you fail to maintain your SR22 insurance, the insurance company will notify the DPS, and your driver's license will be suspended.)
